Commodities are traded in lots, with 1 lot being equal to 100 ounces (oz) of the precious metal.

You open a 1 lot XAUUSD Buy position when the price of gold is 1690.00 per ounce. This means your trade is worth $169,000 (100oz x $1690.00).

The next day, the price has risen to 1693.50. This means your position is now worth $169, 350, and you close the position.

03

Your total pofiit is therefore $350 ($169,350 - $169,000).

FINANCING FEES (SWAP)

All positions left open overnight are subject to financing fees (swap).
Swap may be positive or negative, depending on the direction (buy/sell) of the position.

The rate can be found under Specifications on the MT5 platform.

The swap is calculated in USD as follows:

Swap Rate x Position Size (Lots) x Number of Nights*

The swap will be automatically converted into the base currency of the trading account before being applied.

*Swap on Commodities is charged triple (x3) on Wednesday.
