Equity indices are an excellent indication of the general economic performance of a country, as opposed to a single stock that tracks the performance of only one company.

Dow Jones Industrial Average

The second oldest US market index, the Dow Jones tracks 30 publicly owned blue-chip companies trading on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).

Nikkei 225 Stock Average

The leading and most respected Japanese stock index, the Nikkei tracks the top 225 blue-chip companies trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (TYO).

does it work?

Indices are traded in lots, with 1 lot being equal to 1 unit of the index being trading.

The trading price is quoted in the currency of the index’s country.

For example,

1 Lot DowJones is 1 index unit

You open a 1 lot DOW30 Buy position when the index price is $27,332.00.

The next day, the index price has risen to $28,240.00.

You close the trade with a total profit of $908 ($28,240.00 - $27,332.00).

MARGIN REQUIRMENTS

AltumBrokers uses a dynamic leverage model, which automatically adapts to the client's trading positions. This allows clients to take advantage of the maximum leverage offered, while still having limits in place.

As the client's trading volume increases, the maximum leverage offered decreases, as per the table below:

FINANCING FEES (SWAP)

All positions left open overnight are subject to financing fees (swap).
The swap may be positive or negative, depending on the direction (buy/sell) of the position.

The rate can be found under Specifications on the MT5 platform.

Swap on indices is charged triple (x3) on Fridays.
